Maker, model, serial range, condition, and current demand matter. For lenses, we also consider optical clarity, haze, fungus, scratches, and the movement of the focus and aperture controls.
Working status helps, but untested and non-working equipment can still be suitable. Please describe what you already know rather than forcing controls or attempting repairs.
